The star of the classic British film Kes is to make a return visit to Wigan.

David ‘Dai’ Bradley, who played Billy Casper in the 1969 film, is coming back to Grant's Bulldog Forge antiques and furniture store in Darlington Street East on Sunday, June 23.

While there, he will be meeting fans, selling and signing pictures and T-shirts, and talking about the classic film.

Kes is set in South Yorkshire in the sixties and follows the story of Billy, a 15-year-old boy who comes from a dysfunctional working-class family and is considered a “hopeless case” at school.

But he discovers his own private means of fulfilment when he adopts a fledgling kestrel and proceeds to train it in the art of falconry which helps change his outlook in life.

The movie also starred Leigh-born actor Colin Welland.

Grant Adamson, who is organising the visit to his store, said: "David Bradley was with us two years ago and he was a huge hit, with people travelling as far afield as Sheffield, the Lake District and Stoke to meet and greet the great man."
