Haigh Woodland Park play area shut amid Covid-19 crowd fears

Wigan Council has moved to shut the play area at Haigh Woodland Park after visitors raised concerns about the number of people using it.
Council chiefs said the play area is a popular family attraction and is difficult to manage safely with the current infection rates.

Hide AdIn a post on Facebook, the council said: "Following advice from Public Health and concerns raised by visitors, Haigh Woodland Park play area will close from today.
"The play area is a very popular attraction with families and as such is difficult to manage safely with the current infection rates we are experiencing in the borough.
"Protecting visitors is our key priority. Local visitors can still access the park for their daily exercise. If you do not live locally, please follow government advice and do not travel to the park."
The council added that it will continue to monitor the situation in line with the latest restrictions.
