Fire started on outskirts of racecourse
A gang of youths set fire to land on the outskirts of Haydock Race Course in the early hours of this morning.
Wigan firefighters put out a fire on Ashton Heath at around 6.20am on Saturday on land backing onto the racecourse.
The fire had been deliberately started in a pile of leaves and twigs.
No one was injured and no investigation is taking place into the incident.
